In Kvareli municipality, a council working on the issues of disabled people was established.

From June 2023, the Kakheti Regional Development Center is implementing the project "Strong Civil Society for Improved Municipal Services", which aims to

Support of persons with disabilities in the municipality, detection of existing needs, monitoring of the implementation of the law and advocacy.

As a result of the activities planned within the framework of the project, a council working on the issues of disabled people was established in Kvareli municipality, which includes disabled people, parents of disabled children and active civil society together with the relevant employees of the municipality's mayor's office and city council.

On May 24, a training was held for the members of the Council, the purpose of which was to familiarize them with the structure and rights and duties of the Council, as well as the models of disabilities and the role of the Council in relation to the models. The participants once again got acquainted with the convention and the principles of the convention. One of the issues was the identification, prevention and elimination of accessibility barriers in municipal programs.

The training was led by an expert in the field of inclusion - Victoria Midelauri.

The project is supported within the framework of the project "Advocacy for the Implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities", which is implemented by the Coalition For Independent Living / coalition for independent living Europe Foundation in cooperation with the Hudson Wall Center for Independent Living.
